Robert (Bobby) Landry has served as President of Amite Marble & Granite, Inc. since 1983. The firm is located in Amite, Louisiana and has been in his family since 1928. His maternal grandfather, a Baptist minister, purchased the business in its first year of operation.
Background: Bobby grew up in the business. He graduated from high school in 1964 from the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from college in 1968 earning a B.A. degree in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. He worked in the business while attending college.
He left the business in May of 1969 and worked for the Louisiana Office of Public Welfare. He transferred to Louisiana Office of Public Health, Handicapped Children’s Services in July 1970.
He left state service in August 1973 and returned to the family business. His duties included sales, drafting and installations. He has held the office of Vice President from 1978 until 1983.
Memberships: He has been a member of the Amite Kiwanis Club since 1975 and is proud of his 26 years of “Perfect Attendance”. He has served Kiwanis as President, Secretary and as a member of the Board of Directors several times. He has also served the Louisiana-Mississippi Monument Builders Association as President and has served on their Board of Directors. He held the office of Secretary/ Treasurer of the association until 2003, for seventeen years. He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Amite.
